“I just wanted to be one of The Strokes,” Alex Turner confessed on the latest Arctic Monkeys-album. Back in 2001, Is This It was the album that turned Turner’s peers, and everything else indie rock-related, completely on its head. Without The Strokes, we would have no Bloc Party, no The Libertines and yup, no Arctic Monkeys, just to name a handful of headliners that previously performed at Best Kept Secret. Things tend to come full circle and the band that put the notion of a ‘band’ back on the map will finally make their big outdoor festival debut at the Beekse Bergen!
Because shows have been so few and far between, The Strokes have claimed a near-mythical status. In recent years, the band only toured sporadically, their last visit in The Netherlands dating all the way back to 2006. With a new album coming, that all changes on Saturday, June 13 at Best Kept Secret 2020, because Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr. and company are set to close out the ONE! Which means the iconic guitar melodies of “Last Nite”, “Juicebox”, “Someday” and “Reptilia” will blast across the beachside, alongside a new generation of fans hungry and ready for what is bound to become a historic show.
