You will find e-lockers at the entrance of the festival, you can stuff your belongings over there safely. But be aware, you have to empty your locker on Sunday-night, because they won’t be accessible on Monday morning. Also, at the Info-point you can get the guys and girls over there to charge your phone. They will be more than willing to talk about the meaning of life or ear protection as well.
The opening hours of the festival are:
Friday 14:00 – 04:00
Saturday 12:00 – 04:00
Sunday 12:00 – 01:00
The camping grounds open friday at 10:00 and close monday at 12:00.
Best Kept Secret is a three-day music festival in Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands. In 2019, the festival 7th edition will take place on May 31st, June 1st and June 2nd.
Best Kept Secret wants to bring you some great music. We don’t think only in terms of genres or styles, but simply care about bringing you the artists you would like to see live, regardless if they make indie rock, hip-hop, or electronic music.
What makes this festival so special? Well, it’s the combination of great music being played in a unique and intimate environment! The festival is held around (not in!) the amazing Safari Park of Beekse Bergen, with stages scattered around and, in the woodlands. The open air main stage ONE, can be found right on the beach of a boating lake. As a visitor you can sleep on the on-site natural camping, rent a cosy bungalow or stay in a log cabin at the bungalow park. Not only does Best Kept Secret deliver diversity and balance in its programming and facilities, there’s also a strong emphasis on providing delicious and sustainable food and drinks.
Best Kept Secret is all about giving you and your friends the opportunity to create your own festival experience. Most importantly, enjoy a weekend of great music and exciting performances with us!
As long as it isn’t your good judgement, virginity or sense of humor, sure, we can help. Well, either way, we enjoy helping you in any way possible regardless! During the festival, lost and found objects will be brought to the info stands at both the festival and camping sites. If you realise something’s missing after you get home, we transfer all found objects to Hilvarenbeek’s Town Hall after the festival. Please contact them at +31 13 505 83 00 to see if any of your lost items ended up at the Town Hall.
Wait… I didn’t catch all that. SAY AGAIN? Just kidding! It is in everybody’s own interest to take care of your ears, so you can enjoy (live) music for many years to come! Best Kept Secret uses state-of-the-art systems to monitor volume and are keen to abide the law enforced noise limits.
That said, we’d like to stress that you still wear some form of ear protection when you’re near one of the stages. Once the music jumps above 87dB, we recommend buying plugs with special music filters. That way, you can enjoy the music and still hear the people you’re talking to. At ILoveMyEars.nl you can find some useful tips how to protect your ears. A pair of good quality earplugs, which will protect your ears at the festival, you can get at the information desk on both the festival site and campings. Cheaper basic plugs are for sale at every bar.
The organisation of Best Kept Secret, Friendly Fire, will be making video and audio recordings during the festival. We use this on our website or for social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or YouTube. Also, our media partners are recording video and audio for usage on their media channels, including radio and television. Recordings which are made for crowd monitoring can be used by Friendly Fire for safety reports. More info can be found in our Privacy Statement (Dutch only).
Of course! Like all four previous editions, Best Kept Secret 2019 deserves to be documented. We encourage you to share lots of pictures and videos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (BKSfestival, #BKS19). Professional photographic, film and other recording equipment (this includes all cameras with detachable lenses), are not allowed. Digital cameras and camera phones are admissible on the festival grounds.
Without volunteers, there is no Best Kept Secret, it’s as simple as that.
We are sorry to inform you that our volunteer team for Best Kept Secret 2019 is already complete. Would you like to be contacted in case a spot opens up? Please fill in the form in this link.
Best Kept Secret takes place in a beautiful natural area. Which has enormous advantages for the vibe at the festival site and the camping, but there are a few disadvantages as well. For instance, nests of mosquitos, mice, ants, wasps and the oak processionary caterpillar can be present. The presence of these animals can’t always be predicted and is sometimes dependent on specific weather conditions. Like previous years, we will do our utmost best to reduce any possible inconvenience of vermin. The terrain manager (Beekse Bergen) will do extensive checks in advance of the festival and where possible, will take measures to reduce the presence of vermin. Unfortunately, we can never rule out the presence of certain animals and insects in the vast natural surroundings of the Beekse Bergen terrain. Any mention of vermin can be done at the information desks at the festival site and the camping, or at the reception of the bungalow park. Always go to our Welfare tent when bitten or stung, just to be sure.

It helps a lot to wear clothes with long sleeves and long pants. Try to sit down on the generously present festival furniture instead of on the ground, because the hairs of the caterpillar may land on the ground. We will arrange extra tables and chairs this year to make this possible. If you want to sit on the ground, then sit on a rug, a bag, a coat etc. Try not to wander too deep in the woods and stay on the paths or open fields. If you experience any complaints, please visit the Welfare tent. They are well prepared – amongst other things with ointment against itching – en can help you. Try not to scratch or rub as this will not help. You can trip your skin with adhesive tape if necessary, or rinse your skin with clean water. If you notice a nest somewhere, please report this as soon as possible at the information desk. We will palisade the tree with ribbon and remove the nest as soon as possible.

The 7th edition of Best Kept Secret will be held on May 31st – June 2nd 2019 at Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands.
At Best Kept Secret everyone is welcome. Young or old – everyone is welcome to enjoy the festival.
Do, however, keep in mind that there are no special baby/child facilities available at the festival – nor do we provide special discounts for kids. If you are under the age of 16, you will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Obviously, people with disabilities or physical impairments are welcome at Best Kept Secret. We put effort in making the festival grounds accessible and feasible as possible, especially when it comes to the visibility of the stages. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that every area in the woodlands is accessible for people with mobility impairment and/or in wheelchairs. Please send us an email at email@example.com so we can send you special credentials and instructions.
That’ll be our head-programmer Roel Coppen. Every year, together with his collegue Marco Muhring, he tireless skids between clubs, festivals, record stores and music sites to surprise us all.
Robert Adriaansen of Loudmouth has been our guy from the get-go. Posters, wristbands, parking stickers: it all has his fingerprints on it. Well, not literally of course, but you get the idea.
We are extremely thankful to be able to organize the festival in the amazing woodlands of Beekse Bergen. This is why we’re doing our best to preserve the environment as best as possible. Therefore, we employ a deposit system for drinking cups to avoid pollution. All beers and beverages are poured into plastic cups, which you can immediately return to any bar before the next round of drinks. We’ve been able to save almost two tons of plastic waste this way.
We offer all other waste separately to the waste processor. We’ve conferred about this with our vendors to reduce the amount of food waste. Whatever remains will be supplied to the local food bank.
A fair chunk of our stages and backstage production runs on fixed voltage. This reduces the use of generators and spares thousands litres of diesel fuel. Every year, we make a concentrated effort to become an environment-friendly festival. That’s why we urge you to treat the area as respectfully as we do.
We at Best Kept Secret want to use plastic as consciously as possible. We di this by reducing the use of single-use plastics as much as possible, and by searching for alternatives. Already at the first edition in 2013, we have used a deposit system for drinking cups. All beers and beverages are poured into plastic cups, which you can immediately return to any bar before the next round of drinks. This way, we prevent the use of tens of thousands disposable plastic cups. All other waste is offered separately to a processor, so it can be recycled as much as possible. Also, Best Kept Secret has been a cashless festival for several years, which means you can pay with your debit or credit card everywhere and we don’t need to print thousands of plastic tokens.
All caterers (at the festival site and backstage) will stop using plastic disposables in 2019. Instead of single-use plastics, we work with alternatives like cardboard and real tableware. We want to encourage the crew and the public as much as possible to use less plastic, such as disposable water bottles. One of the steps we take is to connect extra drinking water points, so visitors can bring their own refillable bother and refill it.
We think it’s important to keep the beautiful Best Kept Secret campsite clean, together with you. Therefore, you can hand in your empty bottles and cans at the SPAR camping store. If you hand in 6 empty bottles or cans, you get a coupon with which you can collect a nice goodie at the store. Will you strive for 0% waste, together with us?
Your best chance to unravel all the dirt is subscribing to our newsletter or Whatsapp service. That way you will be brought up to speed by email for all the latest Best Kept Secret line-up announcements and everything else festival related. You could always follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as well.
Better safe than sorry: other than other large providers, Vodafone won’t put extra temporary masts at the festival in place at the site of Best Kept Secret. It could be their existing network can handle the extra traffic during Best Kept Secret perfectly, but we can’t offer certainty about that. If it should occur you experience network issues during the weekend, we can offer you some tips to have as less inconvenience as possible.
– Download your (parking)tickets beforehand if you bought an e-ticket;
– Agree upon an old-school meeting point with your friends (your favourie bar for instance);
– Use a hotspot from friends who use other providers;
– To check the timetable and the map, we’ve made an offline program guide.
