What if Dario Argento’s ‘Suspiria’ was filmed on the set of ‘The Forbidden Planet’? Those are the kind of wondrous what-ifs SPELLLING’s latest LP ‘The Turning Wheel’ inspires. A concept album about karmic cycle of life might sound like a big pill to swallow, but instead, Bay Area artist Chrystia Cabral conjures a light-hearted and fun retro-futuristic world where prog rock, electronic music, sixties pop and soul seem to have been invented anew.
