Sheyma (Live)

A commanding voice blending Western and Arab culture

Sheyma (Live)
  • Sunday 14  →  14.00 - 14.45

Breathtaking singer with a live performance that blends electronic beats and traditional Arab music.

One of the crowd favourites at the recent edition of the Grauzone Festival, Sheyma Rochdi is destroying boring borders with her sound, one as intimate as it is riotous. A voice that needs to be heard to be believed. Sheyma's music is inspired by influences from different genres of Moroccan music such as Gnawa music, Moroccan Chaabi mixed with Arabic alternative. While her vocals are connected to traditions of Arabic music, the structures of the songs are very remote from its codes. True freedom this way lies.
