Dressed Like Boys, the solo project of artist Jelle Denturck, is both intrusively intimate and stunningly grandiose.

The Ghent-based songwriter tackles his experiences as a gay man from personal history, as well as the history of humankind, within a framework of timeless pop staples like The Beatles, David Bowie, Sufjan Stevens and Elton John. Though Denturck’s songs are often rooted in hardship and struggle, they always breach the soil with uncanny emotional power and spirited flair – his self-titled debut staking its place as a modern classic of Belgian pop.
