The relief washes over us in an awesome wave as alt-J, the UK’s boldest, brainiest pop phenomenon, return to Best Kept Secret. Having infiltrated the mainstream while avoiding the clichés has been no small task, but alt-J have done exactly that and continue to expand their horizon. Of course, when on that ascending trajectory, there’ll be plenty of offbeat in-jokes along the way.
